Dairy Free Recipe #1: Peanut Butter Cookies

Since I found that my daughter was allergic to milk, I’ve begun experimenting with many things in order to give her all the foods she previously loved, without the milk. Thankfully, my momma had this delicious peanut butter cookie recipe that she used when I was growing up. It’s not only dairy-free, but it’s also gluten-free, soy-free, and well, free of almost all allergy triggers- except eggs and peanuts, anyways.


1 cup of peanut butter (any kind works best, but I prefer natural)
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs


  • Preheat oven to 350 F, and grease two or three flat cookie sheets.
  • Mix everything together in a large mixing bowl
  • Roll the dough out into small balls and place onto a cookie sheet
  • Place the sheets into the oven, and bake for around 15 minutes.
  • Remove cookies from oven and immediately transfer to a flat cooling/serving dish

*If the dough starts sticking to your hands, just use cool water.

The cool thing about this recipe is that it’s very versatile. You can add a whole bunch of small extra ingredients to come up with a ton of new ideas. Here’s a few ideas of what I’ve personally tried in the past:

  • Jelly in your favorite flavor (strawberry is delicious)
  • a handful or two of whole peanuts or almonds
  • a few tablespoons of oatmeal
  • some chocolate chips or cocoa powder (read the labels. There are a few made without milk.)
  • a handful of raisins
  • sprinkles
  • a small teaspoon or two of coffee (for a mocha flavor)
  • a few teaspoons of coconut flakes
