Sneak Peak at ‘Personal Growth’

ImageI have officially reached 20,000 words in my new novella, which will be the sequel to ‘Less Than Humble Beginnings’ and volume two in the ‘Personal Growth’ series. Since I’m aiming for 30,000 to maybe 35,000 words, I am very nearly done with the rough draft (and getting closer in leaps and bounds I might add). So to mark this occasion, I have decided to share a brief sneak peak at what is currently the rough draft of ‘Personal Growth.’ When I reach 25,000 words, I’ll share another! Oh, and the picture would be your wonderful sneak peek at the rough draft cover also. Tell me what you think about the cover and the sneak peek! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

Aunt Janie?” I asked, finding her in the kitchen at the table. She was looking over some papers, which I assumed by the calculator were finances. “Are you busy?”

Aunt Janie looked up, and answered, “No, no. I could use a break from this anyways. What is it, sweetie?”

I was just thinking about a lot of things today.” I wasn’t really sure how to breech the subject of heritage or my father with her.

Like what?”

Well, for starters… if you’re three quarters Choctaw, was momma that much to?” Aunt Janie nodded her head to say that it did. “So what does that make me?”

Three-eighths, I think, from our side.” Aunt Janie answered.

Well… I was wondering something else.” I paused momentarily, pondering how best to ask this question. Finally, I decided that the best way to do it was to just be out with it. “Do you know who my father was?”

Aunt Janie’s face took on a slightly pained expression. “Your mom never told you who your father was?” I shook my head to answer no. “Well, yes, I know who your father is.”
